In 1979, more than 110 local artists participated in the making of “ART MONTREAL”, and most of them in their studios, “on location” in and around the city. The TV series gave Montreal its first “gallery of the air”, a panoramic view of a thriving local art scene; the avant-garde of Montreal’s visual and plastic arts; dance, theatre, music, film, video art and... the most exciting and demanding of the performance arts... Performance Art. Of the 26 programs broadcast on Cable TV, 7 have survived. Now, almost 30 years later, we present these rare programs transferred to DVD from the original 3/4” masters. |

WISEMAN TECHNIQUE: Floor Stretching Exercises (40 minutes)
INCLUDES AN ONLINE 15 - PAGE INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Now available for the first time on video! A revolutionary
exercise routine for dancers, figure skaters and athletes - anyone interested
in the physical development of the human body. The series of exercises
presented in this video are a result of years of extensive research and
up-to-date understanding of human physiology. Developed specifically for
professional dancers and figure skaters, these precise & focused exercises
are intended to free the performing artist from their physical limitations
by expanding and strengthening the capacity of individual muscles, tendons
& ligaments, as well as developing better coordination and physical awareness.
Now the physical artist and athlete can break through the barriers of
their body’s limitations and realize the vision of their creative spirit.
These exercises are also highly effective in the repair of muscle injuries
and can assist in the rehabilitation from back problems.
The dynamic results from these exercises is well documented. Artists and
athletes alike praise the results achieved through adding ‘The Wiseman
Technique’ © to their training.
A must for anyone interested in the development of the human body... (it
will even improve your golf score.)

Leaving
The House: Deborah Hay
(in English and French) 55 Minutes
(1981)
Choreographer/dancer Deborah Hay was one of the original members of the
Judson Dance Theatre, and worked with Merce Cunningham in 1964. It was
during the mid-60's that she became a dedicated student of T'ai Chi Chuan,
which resulted in the increasing spiritual focus in her work. Hay is unique
- while she likes to work with large dance groups, she manages to integrate
non-dancers in the performances.
Her long-time collaborator is musician Bill Jeffers, who performs with
her live on stage. He also accompanied her during this 1981 intensive
weekend workshop in Montreal. It was a rare opportunity to capture Deborah
Hay in the process of revealing her motivations to a new generation of
Montreal dancers. Shot in natural lighting conditions, the video is a
discreet witness to the inner workings of an accomplished choreographer
and individual. The video also features her solo performance, Leaving
the House.

THE GREAT DEBATE:
YIPPIE VS YUPPIE
ABBIE HOFFMAN AND JERRY RUBIN
(1986)
Abbie
Hoffman and Jerry Rubin were both on the leading edge of protest in the
1960's. Rubin became an entrepreneur and the chief spokesman for the Baby
Boom generation. Hoffman remained active in environmental issues and grass
roots politics, maintaining his anti-establishment stance until the end
of his life. The 1986 debate featured in this one-hour video was the "final"
debate for these two eloquent speakers, following 18 months of touring
North America. Though many years had passed since their heyday as counterculture
icons, thousands flocked to auditoriums to hear the opinions of Hoffman-
idealistic, unrelenting champion for truth and justice- and Rubin- the
pragmatic voice
of the new right.
